SAVE SCRAP METALS ASSIST THE PATRIOTIC FUND AND NEW ZEALAND INDUSTRY Supplies of the following metals are urgently needed: They are listed in order of importance. Although the amount in YOUR home may seem small, in the aggregate the supplies from ALL homes will amount to many tons: How Commonly How Identified Metal Found And Remarks Often found in same fittings Rub with abrasive (sand Copper as for brass, also washing paper or emery cloth) and if coppers, cooking utensils, the metal is a reddish colour lavatory cisterns, fire it is most likely to be copper: screens, coal scuttles, down pipes, etc Copper Pieces of old electric cable, lighting or heating flex for Wire radiators, irons, toasters, vacuum cleaners, etc: Old taps, screws, fire irons, Brass, if polished or filed; Brass, stair carpet rods, door stops, will yield a bright yellowish door steps; curtain rods, colour.
