"Impossible" Jumps
LABORATING the note on a 15-foot pole vault (in our issue of June 7), D. Howe, Auckland, writes to list a number of high-jumpers who are getting close to the "mythical" seven-foot jump, He gives Albritton, 6ft. 954in.; Johnston, 6ft. 934in.; Burke, 6ft. 9¥%in.; Marty, O6ft. 9 1/8in.; Walker, 6ft. 8 5/8in.; Steer, 6ft. 8 1/8in.;. and Walker’s supposed jump of O6ft. 10 3/8in. Our thanks to this correspondent for helping to keep the record straight.
