Jarvis Outpoints Sharpe + And Is Looking For Gildo + Who Outpointed Caltaux

Many were thinking the bout might be won by the short route, when a burst glove on the champion’s fist stopped hostilities for some ten minutes. The "breather" worked wonders for Sharpe, who started the second portion of the bout with such renewed vigour that Jarvis was sampling his share before the final round concluded. bs ne a Gildo and Jarvis. are likely to meet again shortly. It is Jarvis’s great desire to obtain a clear cut victory over Gildo before he leaves with the 3rd Echelon. * * * JARVIS again demonstrated Boxers going overseas will have plenty of opportunities. Reports from Egypt indicate that boxing is very popular with the troops. One remarkable feature is the number of unknown men who have come to the top, like oil in water. * * * To take on a tough morsel of the Vic Caltaux kind, and outpoint him, was a meritorious feat for Young Gildo. There was 1242lb. between the pair in favour of Caltaux, but this made little difference. The little man with the big smile was too clever and by much the cleaner puncher. * * + Jackie Sharpe, who is with the Air Force, wants further contests. His recent
showing proved him to be very fit, and anything but a spent force as a boxer. * * * Caltaux now wants to meet any middle-weight in the Dominion. He finds teducing weight is actually harder than fighting. He took off something like 7lb. before he met Gildo. * * * Boxing is very popular just now.
