Recorded Personalities In Caricature (18)
WHO ARE THEY?-One partner sings. the low notes. (you wonder how he gets some of ’em), and the other partner takes the high notes, plays the piano, and writes nearly all the songs. The latter is a Canadian, the former is an Australian, and one of the finest bassos in Britain to-day — when he is allowed to sing "straight" songs. The composer-partner refused to be frightened by a_ continual stream of rejected songs in his younger days. This singing partnership was established in 1926, when its two members met and decided to go on the music halls. They have broadcast for many years, and their songs, thanks to recordings and the radio, are hummed and whistled the world over.
