Lieut.-Colonel Sir Alexander Roberts, K.B.E., has been appointed embarkation staff officer at Wellington, and Captain David Ewen and Honorary Captain G. Prictor assistant embarkation officers. Lieut.-Colonel R. B. Smythe, D.S.O., a former member of the New Zealand Staff Corps, has been appointed area staff officer at Christchurch, to succeed Major H. G. Livingstone. Colonel Smythe was Adjutant General in 1923, and served during the last war as a General Staff Officer with the Australian and New Zealand Army Corps and the Ist Australian Division. Lieut.-Colonel A. S. Falconer, D.S.O., M.C., has been appointed to command the 23rd Canterbury and Otago Battalion of the 2nd Echelon. During the last war he held various staff appointments with the Ist and 2nd Infantry Brigades in France. Lieut.-Colonel R. E. Sleigh has been appointed to command the 5th Field Regiment, New Zealand Artillery. He has been in command of. the 3rd Artillery Brigade Group of the peacetime establishment. Major V. G. Jervis, N.Z:S.C., hs been promoted Lieut.-Colonel pad: appointed Deputy Adjutant General if place of Lieut.-Colonel E. T. Rowllings. Colonel Jervis was trained at Duntroon Military College, and served in the last war. He lost a leg on Gallipoli. pe Major L. W. Andrew, V.C., formerly of the Central Military District Headquarters, has been transferred to Trentham in command of the 22nd Wellington Battalion of the 2nd Echelon. Major J. W. Barry has been appointed to command the Brigade units of the 2nd Echelon at Trentham. Major E. H. Whiting has been attached temporarily to Army Head-' quarters in Wellington and is making a recruiting tour of the South Island. Major F. H. M. Hanson, M.M., has been appointed to command the 7th Field Co., New Zealand Engineers. © Lieut. R. W. Mallash, of the Railway Workshops, Petone, has been appointed Transport Officer at Trentham. He served with similar units during the Jatt war.
