Recorded Personalities in Caricature (3)
WHO IS HE? He is a Scottish comedian, which is a clue right off. He says he feels that he is not a bit like the popular conception of a funny man. He admits to being of a sad and solemn countenance and is_ repeatedly mistaken for the man who plays the flute. He does not play cards or even golf; has never been shipwrecked, attacked by bandits or mobbed by radio fans. He receives few letters of appreciation from his listeners-he considers himself lucky if he gets one, and then more likely than.not it is a warning that he is not as funny as he used to be. He was not born in Glasgow, he affirms, but in Paisley, which he considers one of the finest towns in the west of Scotland. He didnot; however, coin the slogan, "Keep your eye .on Paisley."
