Meet the LADIES
popular young 1ZB artist, whose sweet voice is heard regularly in the non-stop Revue in the " Child. ren’s Magazine" on Wednesdays at 5 p.m., and who frequently makes personal appearances in songs and sketches in 1ZB’s Concert Party and broadcasts in the Diggers’ Hour, has crowded more amateur theatrical experience into her short life than many a person twice her age. At the age of three she made her first stage appearance in Glasgow, as a baby fairy in a ballet. After coming to New Zealand, she entered for the Auckland Competitions in 1929, and out of twelve entries for singing, dancing, and elocution, she gained eight first places and _ four seconds. Among the parts Pat has played on the stage are: The Boy Babe in the pantomime "Babes in the Wood"; Suzanne in Margaret Kennedy’s famous play "The Constant Nymph"; Lencher, the little German girl in " Autumn Crocus" with the Zoe Bartley Baxter Players; the name part in " Dick Whittington"; Prince Charming in "Cinderella"; and Mickey Mouse. After an audition with Dame Sybil Thorndike, and John Tait, director of J. C. Williamson’s, she toured New Zealand with the J. C. Williamson Pantomime " Cinderella." A member of the Little Theatre Society, and the Auckland Amateur Operatic Society, Pat has taken part in many of their productions. She is also a member of the Royal Academy of Operatic Dancing.
