BIG FAREWELL FUNCTION FOR "FRED AND MAGGIE"

Many Attractive Items Arranged T is expected that there will [ be even standing room in the Majestic Theatre, Wellington, on Sunday night, January 7, when "Fred and Maggie" and "Daisy Sproggins" will be tendered a public farewell before leaving for Sydney the next day. A programme in keeping with the importance of the occasion has been arranged, which will include a special presentation by the Band of the Royal New Zealand Air Force. This fine musical combination has been much in the

news lately; and having achieved a high standard of efficiency, it will be very worth while hearing. Another attractive item will be a bracket of songs by " Jill" with Wide Range Orchestral accompantment. This will be rather unusual, as the accompaniment will be played on Wide Range discs in 2ZB’s control room, and relayed by land-line to the theatre. On the stage listening to the accompaniment through ear-phones, * Jill" will sing into a microphone, the voice going back to the con-

trol room, where it will be "mixed" with the accompaniment. A presentation by Reg. Morgan will be another highlight of the programme, and Reg.’s recent tour of the North and South :Islands indicates that he is a firm favourite with ZB listeners. It is certain that he will have something special for "Fred and Maggie’s" farewell. _ All these, in addition to the personal appearance of "Fred and Maggie" themselves and a spec-

tacular finale, will make this function something to be remembered. For the benefit of listeners outside Wellington, portion of the proceedings will be relayed by 2ZB.

The proceeds of the function will be given to the Air Force Relations Committee, which functions under the auspices of the Patriotic Council in the interests of the men of the Royal New Zealand Air Force at home and abroad,
