"NOT ALLOWED BUT NICE!"
The day proved too long at the Exhibition for the two girls you see above-one dark and one fair, the same age and the best of friends. The round of the Courts plus the riotous fun of Playland is fairly exhausting to even very young legs. And as for twelve miles — it is twelve miles, isn’t it? — of paved roadway-well, it was then that small feet began to rebel. And, like most young creatures, these girls knew exactly and without thinking just what to do. about it. Off with your sandals, cram your socks in your pocket and "Come on-let’s try the water!" they cry. Cool green water aswish to the knees and smooth paved bottom
take all their weariness away like magic. From end to end they wade and laugh when they come face to face with the camera man. "Is that allowed?" he asks. "Not allowed-but nice," they reply. And we have to agree with them that it would be one of the things worth paying to do. But what a day it will be when all the trailing weary-footed visitors that crowd the pathways take to the pools!
