Rosemary for the Hair

Dear Aunt Daisy, You were talking the other morning about rosemary for the hair, and how to use it. I am sending you a copy of some advice given to me years ago by an expert. "Bay rum alone is excellent rubbed into the scalp, but the best hair tonic you can use is made as follows: Take one pound of rosemary twigs and leaves (not hard, woody stems), and put them into a saucepan with a quart of rainwater, or distilled water. Bring to the boil, and stand it where it will keep hot, if not actually simmer, all day. The leaves may even be steeped for two or three days like this. Finally strain, and add half a pint of bay rum to the liquid. Bottle and cork tightly. This lotion should be well rubbed into the hair each night after brushing. It is extremely important to spend some time massaging it well into the scalp, as no lotion is the slightest use if not rubbed in so thoroughly that the scalp tingles and circulation is well established at the roots of the hair." I-do so enjoy your morning session, and thank you for all your good cheer. — Mother of Five." How good of you to pass on to us all your fine recipes. Many thanks to a good member of the " Daisy Chain." Rosemary is for Remembrance, too, isn’t it? (Contiued on next page)
