Verification from Thai The first official use of change of name from Siam to Thai which we have observed is contained in a verification from Bangkok dated September 9 and addressed to Ronald Murphy, Auckland. The letter states: "Your letters with reports of the receptions of Station HS8PJ and HS6PJ have been received with thanks. In reply we are happy to say both your reports have been checked and found correct in every respect. We are out of stock of QSL cards, so please accept this letter as verification. We shall be sending you cards in due course of time. We enclose a few used. stamps of Thailand and hope that they will be of some use to you. (Signed), Nai Soontern Hongladaromp, Overseas Section Publicity Bureau.
From Hunterville A Hunterville reader submits this come ment on his reception: "TI have noticed that 20 metres has fallen off somewhat, but stations on and around 28 metres are coming in well in the morning. HP5A Panama City has a good signal in the morning, and closes at 7 a.m. approx. JZK, JZP, Japan, are both heard well, as are DJB and DJA, Zeesen, Can you identify an 80 metres station approx. 5.6 megacycles which is heard daily about 7.15 and peaks about 8 o’clock and fades at 8.45? Usually a lady announcer is heard, but have never heard an English session." (The station is believed to be Russian, but as yet have no definite information. Your American should be WPIT. WTIC is a broadcast band sta. tion on 1040 kc. — DX Ed.)
