"DEFINITELY"

To The Editor, "The Listener" Sir.-A few months ago a ZB announcer used "definitely" eleven times in five minutes when describing a circus. Now, it seems, the YA stations have caught the habit, for the other night "definitely" occurred seven times from three broadcasts within half an hour. Surely it belongs to the days when London society went all "sick-making." Etymologically it is unsound as it is thrown about on the radio and in the street. To anyone who can catch it and bottle it up for good and all, the thanks of many a listener will be overdue. Yours, etc.,
