ZB EXHIBITION NOTES

IKE the Service itself, the ZB plans for the Exhibition are progressing rapidly, and listeners may look forward to hearing interesting broadcasts of, and seeing interesting things at, the Great Show Window of New Zealand. The announcements in the last two issues of The Listener have provoked a good deal of interest. Enquiries of all kinds are being received at the stations as well as many congratulations on the Service’s novel Exhibition plans. Now firmly settled on its temporary set of railway lines, 5ZB is being re-dressed within and without. Gleaming in its final coat of polish, its cream, scarlet, and blue exterior will attract all visitors as soon as they enter through the Tirangi Road entrance. The platform to provide a clear view of all parts of the Station has now been completed, and the laying out of the surrounding lawns and pathways is also well in hand. As announced, the station will be on the air from November 1 Sessions will be broadcast from 2-4.30 p.m. and from 6-9.30 p.m. daily, except Sundays. The wave length is 1,360 k.c. * * * The very modern ZB lounge is now almost completed, more than fulfilling the attractive promise of the original plans. It will undoubtedly be the source of much interest of the various Courts. Not the least interesting feature will be the pictorial survey of the ZB Stations’ activities and the special displays by the sponsors of the national feature programmes will be well worth seeing. Why, one might even see Jimmy Allen riding the Lone Ranger’s famous white " Silver," with Lawrence of Arabia urging him on! eee The official opening of 5ZB will take place at 8 p.m. on November 1. A really outstanding presentation is being prepared for this ‘auspicious occasion, and listeners should definitely mark this time on their listening chart right away. Full details of the programme, which will be re-broadcast by all ZB Stations, will be published in next week’s issue of The Listener.
