9.32 "The Kentucky Minstrels." Devised and produced by Harry S. Pepper. (A BBC production) Minstrelsy to-day is a rare thing-and more’s the pity, for people are now better versed in Negro music than they were generations ago. In the past, minstrelsy played an important part in the history of the entertainment world. It originated in 1842 in the United States when E. P. Christy banded together four performers, the Virginian Serenaders, with extraordinary success. Minstrels held the stage for the rest of the century, then more or less died out. The Kentucky Minstrels are an ne and popular revival on the radio. 10.0 MUSIC, MIRTH AND MELODY 11. 0 CLOSE DOWN NY AUCKLAND 880 k.c. 341m, 5. 0-6.0 p.m. Light music 7.
