Rachmaninoff 9.14 Eugene Ormandy and _ the Minneapolis Symphony Orchestra, "SYMPHONY No. 2 IN E MINOR, Op. 27" Rachmaninoff At the turn of the century, musical fashions were changing, and revolutionary ideas were already attacking the young bloods of the new Russian school, even beneath the roofs of the Conservatories. Rachmaninoff was, however, not deterred from exercising his great talent in his own way; in spite of fashions, he will remain a romanticist until the end of the chapter. This Symphony is classical in structure, modern, but not eccentrically modern in expression, and definitely romantic in colour. 10.0 MUSIC, MIRTH AND.
