HAWKE S BAY COURSING CLUB’S

MEETING.

The Hawke’s Bay Plumpton Coursing Club struck beautiful weather for their postponed meeting on Saturday. There was a fair attendance, and speculation was brisk. Mr Counihan. judged, and left nothing to be desired in the discharge of his arduous duties, and Mr Ward was au fait with the slips. This week we reproduce a picture of Mr Cavanagh’s greyhound Linwood, who distinguished himself by acting as runner-up to Shylock in the Champion Collar Stakes, at the Auckland August Meeting. Linwood gives promise of being a useful dog next season. Another coursing picture we give this week is of Mi- James Barr, the judge of the Auckland Coursing Club, who, taking all things into consideration, has, I think, given satisfaction to the majority of the greyhound owners who have had dogs competing at Avondale plumpton. The public will always agree to differ in coursing trials, but so long as the owners and trainers of the competing dogs are satisfied, that is the main question.
