Auckland, The finish of the North Shore Yacht Club’s second cruising race of the season on Saturday, from Victoria 'Wharf round Waiheke, Matiatia, 40 miles, was Waircre, Rangatira, Emerald, Thistle, Heartsease. Mystery and Glady. On time allowance, Wairere (17m.) still took first piiize, with Emerald j(35m.) second, and Glady (60m.) third. Buffalo won the Devonport Yacht Club’s power boat race in the harbour on Saturday, with Seabird second, and Edna third. After an exciting race, the Victoria Cruising Club’s first cruising event of the season, was won by Etna, Encounter being second, and Eona third. The same club's second-class race fell to Arona, the second and third places being filled by Roma and Fairy Bell.
TKe Waitemata Dinghy Club’s members raced on Saturday, the result being Olivine 1, Dixie 2.
The Manukau Yacht Club’s third handicap of the season was decided at Onehunga last Saturday, the result being a win for Petrel, followed by Edith and Manola. To Russell and Back. The longest motor-launch race ever held in New Zealand will eventuate on January 30th next, when Mr. J. Reid’s Seabird and Mr. A. H. Adams’ Eliza will race from Auckland to Russell and baek to Auckland, a distance of about 240 knots, for a stake of £5O aside. The Seabird put up the fastest time in the recent race for the Rudder Cup, in which the Eliza also took part. After the race Mr. Adams challenged to race his boat against any other competitor in the race, and the challenge was accepted by Mr. Reid. The race will be run under Rudder Cup rules.
