A Devoted Dog.
The “Petit Parisien” recounts a story of the remarkable devotion of a dog for a man who has saved its l ! ie. While carting a crop from a field at Aines a servant named Jean Lirot rescued his master’s dog. half asphyxiated, from beneath a bundle of
sheaves, where it had been imprisoned. Lirot entered a vat the other day to clean it. and almost immedia tely fell fainting, overcome by the fumes of carbonic acid gas that had generated there. At the sound of his fall the dog, which was lying near the vat, bounded away to his house. Here he found his master, and behaved in such an extraordinary manner that the master came to the conclusion that some.hing was wrong. He thereupon fastened a chain to the dog's collar, amt was led to the vat. where Lirot was found in an unconscious condition.
