Jewel anemones cluster over the submerged reefs off Kapiti Island, on the northwestern coast of the lower North Island. When lit with a flashlight, jewel anemones show their true, beautiful colours, which range from primrose yellows to whites, browns, and most commonly, pinks. Measuring 1 to 2cm across, they are found on rock walls trom low water to around 20 metres.
