Vote for the Environment Charter

The 2002 election saw the fifth, non-partisan Vote for the Environment election charter prepared by Forest and Bird, ECO, Federated Mountain Clubs and Greenpeace. This charter sets out environmental policies which all political parties were encouraged to adopt. The 48-page charter contains policies on a wide range of environmental issues such as biodiversity on land, freshwater, genetic engineering and marine ecosystems. The charter has a longer shelf life than the election. It provides an excellent lobbying resource for Forest and Bird members. The Vote for the Environment charter can be accessed from the Forest and Bird web site (www.forest-bird.org.nz) or on www.environmentvote.org.nz or by sending a SAE and $4 (in stamps is fine) to Forest and Bird.
