The Hauraki Gulf, from Bream Head to Cape Colville
by
Linda Bercusson
160pp limp,
Shoal Bay Press, Christchurch 1999, RRP$29.95. It is nearly 20 years since the old Lands and Survey Department published its colourful handbook on the latelamented Hauraki Gulf Maritime Park. Linda Bercusson explores much the same area in much the same way: brief notes on the gulf, its history and landscapes; and about each island, its geography, facilities, and wildlife. The illustrations are notable. In the style of the old guide, Linda Bercusson has gathered together a mass of contemporary and historical pictures. The book is a colourful introduction/souvenir for holidaymakers.
