The Society’s Matuku Reserve on the Waitakere River on Aucklana’s west coast is featured in this new display at Auckland War Memorial Museum. Raupo and flax are to be added to this display which is backed by a panorama of the forested reserve covering 101 hectares of the hills beyond. Tanks of live native fish and insects complement the static displays of wetland plants and birds including a bittern, fernbird, and a black shag capturing an eel.
