During its 75th birthday dinner, Thames-Hauraki branch of Forest and Bird paid special tribute to member Keith Purnell, for the work he has done for it over more than 20 years. Still a practising lawyer at 78, Keith Purnell has long helped branch initiatives in town planning work. He was also instrumental in the erection of a bird-watching hide in the mangroves in Thames town. Here, Keith Purnell stands alongside an aerial sculpture of a bird which he made from stainless steel and set among the mangroves.
