Successful first year for resource management service

THE RESOURCE Management Service at the Christchurch Community Law Centre celebrated its first year of operation in February, having helped over 500 people overcome barriers in the understanding and use of the Resource Management Act. "Five years after the passing of the Act, there is still no financial or legal assistance, apart from free advice services such as ours, for those who wish to voice their concerns over development proposals," said Amelia Davis, coordinator of the service. The service is funded by four of the city council’s community boards and is staffed by over 45 volunteers, both senior resource management students and practitioners in the field.
