Wild South: the story of New Zealand's
Endangered Birds,
by Rod Morris and Hal
Smith (BCNZ, $49.95). While many articles and scientific papers have been written about our endangered species, a more relaxed, anecdotal approach has been lacking. This excellent publication makes up for that, providing the reader with fascinating insights into the behaviour of the kakapo, black stilt, kea, saddleback, takahe. black robin and others. Photographs by Rod Morris are outstanding.
