International 20th Ornithological Coneress

Christchurch is to host the 20th International Ornithological Congress during the week of December 2-9, 1990. This will be just the second time that the Congress has been held in the Southern Hemisphere. The Congress theme is ‘‘World of Birds: a Southern Perspective’, and its emblem is the yellow-eyed penguin. The Congress coincides with the 50th anniversary of New Zealand's Ornithological Society. Also taking place at the same time will be a conference of the International Council for Bird Preservation (ICBP), which will happen in Hamilton in the last week of November. Any enquiries regarding these events, please write to the organiser, Dr Ben Bell, Zoology Department, Victoria University, Private Bag, Wellington.
