ANNUAL MEETING OF SOUTHLANT UNION. .rl The annual meeting of the Southland Sawmill Workers' Union was held in the ^ Labour Hall on Friday afternoon, there ha- ^ ing a good gathering of members, over which Mr J. Faulkner, president of the S Union, presided. S i The chairman, in moving the adoption of the annual report and balance-sheet, E stated that the position of the Union was , satisfact-ory. ^ In support of the motion, Mr J. Als- ^ weiler said that this was the twentieth annual report, and he was one of the I founders who had launched the Union, | and its success had justified their efforts. j If members were alive to their own in- A terests, tfiey would get a fair return for their labour. To-day the Union was firm- ^ ly established, and was now the strongest and most determined and united Union in Southland. The report and balance-isheet werfa T adopted. Enright, Bush Sid-" — ing. f With regard to the Alliance of Labour, members expressed themselves as being favourable to affiliation with the alliance, the opinion being that the more unity Labour Unions obtained, the better would they be able to protect their interests.
