The tonnage of the merchant shipping of the United Kingdorn is 18,111,000 tons, and the tonnage for the whole Empire, ineluding the British Dominions, is 20,143,000 tons. The United States comes next with 12,406,000 tons, the total for this country having thus grown since 1914 when it was 2,027,000 tons.
