A Sydney cable states : A gold nugget of 154 ounces was found in the Bathurst district. The bituminous coal consumption in the United States for the present coal year, which will end on March 31, 1921, will ,not likely exceed 550,000,000 tons and may be more than 500,000,000 tons, This - means that the min'es must produce a litfcle better than 10,(XX),0G0 tons a week in order to supply the domand. The report of the Medical School OfRcer for London for 1919 is cheering reading, for it reports the lowest -death-rate among children ever recorded. During the year more than 300,000 children were medicaliy inspected, and 169,200 received medical treatment. The general condition of the children, as regards nutrition and cleanliness, was distinctly better than in the year before the war.
