The donations towards the Auckland War Memorial Museum aggregate £75,000. The principal contributors towards the object are : Auckland Savings Bank £25,000, Government subsidy £25,000, Auckland City Council £5000, Auckland Racing Club £5000, N.Z. Iinsurance Company £2000, South British Insurance Com. pany £2000, Bank of New Zealand £1000. The- wild state of some of the natives living near the Persian Gulf was vividly described by Brigadier-General Andrew to the clergymen attending the College House (Christchurch) refresher course. He said that he went in search of the natives and one day found a company in a rivcr-bed. The children were on their hands and feet eating gras3, while the adults searched for snails and slugs which they eagerly devoured.
