APPROPRIATION. Auckland, April 16, 1856. Sir, The annual sum of three thousand five hundred pounds, granted to the Church of England for the education of the Native race of New Zealand, was directed by Sir George Grey to be divided ia the following manner:— I.—Nobthern Division. schools. (£1700.) ll.—Southern Division. - Otaki Ven. O- Hadfield. Whanganui • Rev. C. S. Nicholls. Motueka Rev. T. L. Tudor. Ahuribi ....... Rev. S. "Williams. (*£1300.) lll.—Reserved Fund. At the discretion of the Bishop to found new schools or enlarge old ones £500 Total £3500 I have requested the Rev. G. A. Kissling, the Secretary of the Board of the Northern Division, to furnish the details of the Expenditure of £1700 per annum, which does not pass through my hands, but through the Treasurer appointed by the Board. Mr. Fitzherbert is a member, appointed by Government, of the Board of the Southern Division, And may perhaps be able to give the details of their expenditure. The following is an account of the expenditure and liabilities of the Reserved Fund of £500 per annum, placed at the disposal of the Bishop :— RECEIPTS.
