Motion made and question ptoposed, That this House being of opinion that all expenses incurred in the support of the Establishments of Resident Magistrates' Courts throughout the Colony (not already provided for in the C ivil List) should be borne by the General Government, that his Excellency the Governor be requested to place a sufficient sum on the Estimates, to give effect to such principle. (Major Greenwood.) Amendment proposed, That all the words after the word "Colony" be omitted with a view to insert the following—" excepting those which are maintained entirely for Native purposes, should not be borne on the General Estimates."
