MESSAGE NO. 11.
With reference to a Resjlution of the Houie of Representatives No. 10, dated 21st ultimo, requesting that the House might be furnished with a " Return of the amount of Land Scrip awarded by the New Zealand Company on the Government as compensation to sufferers in respect of Land purchased from the Company in their Settlements of Wellington and Whanganui; and also of the cases in which compensation was not awarded in such respect, showing the name of each originaL purchaser of a Land Order from the New Zealand Company, and the number and date of such Land Order, the name of every transferee (of any Land Order) with the date of each transfer ; the name of every claimant for compensation, and the amount and nature of each claim, distinguishing between Residents and Absenters; the amount and date of each award, and the name of the person to whom each award was made, with a statement of the grounds of the award or non-award in each case, distinguishing between Residents and Absentee*, and between Original Purchasers and Transferees, the name of the person to whom the Grant of Land has been made in respect of each award, with the date of the Grant and the reasons for making it when not made to the person to whom the Scrip was awarded; and any recorded proceedings of the body of Resident Purchasers by whom the general claim on the Company was made, and of the Committee of that Body by whom the particular claims were investigated and determined"—His Excellency the Officer administering the Government regrets it is not possible to furnish the inform mation required without a reference to Wellington.
