ORDERS OP REFERENCE Extracts from the Journals of the House of Representatives Wednesday, the 12th Day op July, 1950 Ordered, " That a Select Committee be appointed, consisting of ten members, to whom all Local Bills shall stand referred after the first reading ; the Committee to report whether the Standing Orders have been complied with, whether the rights and prerogatives of the Crown are in any way affected by the provisions of the Bills, and to recommend such amendments as it may think proper, and to report, when necessary, on the merits of the Bills ; the Committee to have power to confer with any Committee appointed for a similar object by the Legislative Council: the Committee to consist of Mr. Anderton, Mr. Gillespie, Mr. Hudson, Mr. Johnstone, Mr. Macfarlane, Mr. Massey, the Hon. Mr. Parry, Mr. Sheat, Mr. Smith, and the Mover."—(Hon. Mr. Bodkin.) Thursday, the 24th Day op August, 1950 Ordered, " That the Local Elections and Polls Amendment Bill be referred to the Local Bills Committee." —(Hon. Mr. Bodkin.) Friday, the Ist Day of September, 1950 Ordered, " That, with respect to the North Shore Drainage Bill, Standing Order 366 be suspended in so far as it relates to the number of days from the commencement of the session within which Local Bills may be introduced, and that the Bill be allowed to be introduced and to proceed."— (Mr. Eyre.) Wednesday, the 20th Day op September, 1950 Ordered, " That, with respect to the Auckland Metropolitan Drainage Bill, the Standing Orders relating to Local Bills be suspended in so far as to allow the Bill to be introduced and to be proceeded with as a Local Bill, notwithstanding that the requirements of Standing Orders 361 and 366 have not been complied with in that notice of the Bill was not published within the time prescribed and that the Bill is being introduced later than forty-two days after the commencement of the session."— (Mr. Anderton.) Thursday, the 21st Day op September, 1950 Ordered, " That the Harbours Bill be referred to the Local Bills Committee."—(Hon. Mr. Goosman.) Wednesday, the Ist Day op November, 1950 Ordered, " That the Local Bills Committee have leave to sit during the present sitting of the House." —(Mr. Massey.) Thursday, the 2nd Day op November, 1950 Ordered, " That the Local Bills Committee have leave to sit during the present sitting of the House."—(Mr. Massey.) Memorandum, for the Chairman, Local Bills Committee : " The following Resolution from the Local Bills Committee was adopted and agreed to by the House of Representatives on 10th October, 1950, on motion of Mr. Massey: ' That the proceedings of the Local Bills Committee during the taking of evidence on the Auckland Metropolitan Drainage Bill and the North Shore Drainage Bill be open to accredited representatives of the press.'"
