The school roll, which was 638 in March, 1947, stood at 614 on Ist July and 673 on 31st December, 1947. The increase between July and December was due mainly to the enrolment for electrical courses of a group of employees belonging to the Signal and Electrical Branch of the New Zealand Railways. On 31st December the school employed 7 full-time teachers, 13 part-time teachers, and a clerical staff of 5. Three additional positions for full-time teachers were approved some time ago, but difficulty has been experienced in obtaining men with adequate technical qualifications.
