POST OFFICE ACCOUNT— continued
(a) £94,550 provided on main estimates. Additional provision necessary to cover the increased value of contracts let for the cleaning of buildings and the purchase of cleaning-materials. (b) £30,000 provided on main estimates. The increase is required to make provision for this Department's proportion of the increased Government subsidy payable to the Public Service Superannuation Fund consequent upon the increases in salaries as from the Ist April, 1946. (c) £442,000 provided on main estimates. Owing to the increased volume of business it is now found to be impracticable to reduce the number of employees on the temporary staff to the figure anticipated* when the main estimates were prepared. (d) £7,000 provided on main estimates. Increased provision necessary to provide relief for nonclassified officers taking annual leave and for the disposal of accrued leave and increased expenses payable to relieving officers.
