POST OFFICE ACCOUNT—continued

(a) £455,000 on main estimates. Additional amounts required to provide for the extensive repair work that is involved as a consequence of the snowstorm in the Canterbury District. (b) £120,000 on main estimates. The amount is required to cover the purchase of additional motor-vehicles. (c) £60,000 on main estimates. Increased provision due to increased hiring from Public Service Garages and to the additional mileage being run as a result of the Canterbury snowstorm damage. (d) £22,000 on main estimates. Increased provision to provide for the rent of stores used to accommodate lease-lend telecommunications equipment. (e) £75,000 on main estimates. The additional provision is for the purchase of air letter-cards and to obtain stocks of envelopes for enveloping telegrams and toll accounts. (/) £891,000 on main estimates. It is anticipated that by the end of the present financial year, men returning from war service will have displaced 2,100 temporary employees,
