STATE FORESTS ACCOUNT
(a) Provision for additions to staff and return of servicemen earlier than anticipated. (b) Further purchases of land for rehabilitation purposes. £50,000 on main estimates. (c) Construction of hangar at Rotorua for aerial fire patrol and purchase of buildings for South Island training centre. £3,120 on main estimates. (d) Contribution to Imperial Forestry Institute for current year. £75 on main estimates included contribution of £50 sterling for 1944-45. (e) £5,000 on main estimates. Additional required for equipment of additional timber-cruising and forest survey parties and for construction of experimental creosoting equipment. (/) Required in connection with 1946 forest survey. £450 on main estimates. (g) To provide for additional cruising parties necessitated by expanding timber-production and for forest survey parties. £8,500 on main estimates. (h) A cruising party was burnt out while occupying a bush hut and lost practically the whole of their personal effects. (i) Loss of a registered letter between office and post-office. (j) Required this year on account of rehabilitation plans coming into operation earlier than anticipated. £3,750 on main estimates. (/c) £5,400 on main estimates did not provide for overtime by field staff being necessary throughout the whole year. (/) It is probable that local authorities will qualify for greater amounts than previously anticipated. £18,300 on main estimates,
