ORDERS OF REFERENCE Extracts from the Journals of the House of Representatives Thursday, the 10th Day of March, 1944 Ordered, " That for the remainder of the session all Select Committees of the House have leave to sit on days on which the House is not sitting."—(Right Hon. Mr. Eraser.) Wednesday, the 22nd Day op March, 1944 Ordered, " That a Select Committee be appointed, consisting of ten members, to consider all matters relating to public health, infectious diseases, contagious diseases, hospitals, and to local authorities having charge of these matters, and to other matters affecting public health which may be referred to it: the Committee to consist of Mr. Ac,land, the Rev. Mr. Aderman, Mr. Anderton, Mr. Armstrong, Mr. Doidge, Mr. Eindlay, Mr. Hackett, Mr. Paikea, Mr. Richards, and the Mover." —(Hon. Mr. Nordmeyer.)

REPORTS No. 40.—Petition of W. A. Alexander, of Mangonui Praying for compensation for loss allegedly sustained owing to a decision of the Health Department. I have the honour to report that the Committee has no recommendation to make. 27th September, 1944.

No. 49.—Petition of the Chiropractic Institute Incorporated, of Auckland, and 4,122 Others Praying that a public inquiry by an independent tribunal be held into the efficacy of forms of treatment such as chiropractic treatment. I have the honour to report that in the opinion, of the Committee the petition should be referred to the Government for favourable consideration. 4th October, 1944.

No. 43.—Petition of Hilda C. Bunt, of Christchurch Praying for an inquiry into the treatment of her son while an inmate of the Sunnyside Mental Hospital. I have the honour to report that the Committee has no recommendation to make. 10th October, 1944.
