Minister in Charge of Census and Statistics. AN ESTIMATE of the Sum that will be required in the Year ending 31st March, 1941, to defray the Salaries, Contingencies, and Expenses of the Census and Statistics Department. Summary.

(a) Underexjtenditure due to absence on leave of officers serving with military forces. (b) Provision required to cover work provided for in previous year, but not completed. (c) Provision required for twelve months' light, heat, &c., in new premises, whereas part of period only was provided last year. (d) Overseas orders for machine spare parts and machine cards delayed by advent of war. Provision required to cover these orders, in addition to current year's requirements. (e) To provide for overtime necessitated by absence of officers serving with military forces, on loan, &c. (/) Increased postal charges for full twelve months.
