REMARKS. •to . . . ;f (a) This item provides for the purchase of drugs beneficial in effecting a reduction in the prevalence of hydatid disease in dogs. The data available last year was not sufficient to enable an accurate forecast to be made as to the cost of the drug and the number of dogs to be treated. The supply of drugs proved to be insufficient, and a considerable increase is required this year. The expenditure is recoverable. (b) Increased provision due to Centennial celebrations. (c) Expenditure greater than anticipated. (d) A number of claims did not come to hand during last year. These will be dealt with during the current year. (e) This expenditure is offset by free accommodation granted by the Canterbury Provincial Buildings Board to Government Departments. (/) Balance of last year's grant being paid this year.
