REMARKS. (а) Increase due to payment being made for services rendered over a period of fifteen months. (б) Increase due to the administration of the Import Control Regulations. (c) Official Representative, New York, retires on superannuation during the year. Amount provides for expenses which will be incurred in his return to New Zealand, in the appointment of an officer from London to succeed him, and in the appointment of an officer from New Zealand to London. (d) Number of officers, 42. Travelling-allowances, £569 ; travelling-expenses, £218 ; taxi and motor hire, £14 ; mileage allowances, £5. Decrease due to retention of departmental Inspectors in Head Office for period owing to introduction of the Import Control Regulations. (e) Medical expenses of officer injured on duty, £4. (/) Additional amount to provide for interior alterations.
