ORDERS OF REFERENCE.
Extracts from the. Journals of the House of Representatives. Friday, the 28th Day or July, 1939. Ordered, " That a Select Committee be appointed, consisting of ten members, to consider all matters relating to school teachers, education, and public instruction generally, training of public-school teachers, higher education, technical education, manual instruction, and such other matters affecting education as may be referred to it : the Committee to consist of Mr. Atmore, Mr. Bodkin, Mr. Boswell, the Rev. Mr. Carr, Mr. Dickie, Mr. Doidge, Mr. McCombs, the Rev. Mr. Nordmeyer, Mr. Petrie, and. the Mover." —(Hon. Mr. Fraser) Thursday, the 3rd Day of August, 1939. Ordered, " That all petitions not finally dealt with during the session of 1938 be again referred to the same Committees as they were referred to during the said session." —(Hon. Mr. Eraser.)
REPORT S.
Nos. 89/1938 and 21. Petitions of Alma B. Davies, of Rata Street, Te Aroha. Praying for compensation for alleged wrongful dismissal from the Education Service. I have the honour to report that the Committee has no recommendation to make. In the opinion of the Committee the petitioner should apply for the invalid benefit. 20th September, 1939. Special Report. I have the honour to report that the Education Committee desires to record its appreciation of the care and ability with which the Chairman, Rev. Clyde Carr, has conducted the business of the Committee during the session ; and it also desires that this resolution shall be recorded on the minutes of the Committee and be reported to the House. sth October, 1939. Special Report. I have the honour to report that the Education Committee desires to record its appreciation of the capable manner in which the Clerk, Mr. M. S. Pasley, has discharged his various duties during the session ; and it also desires that this resolution shall be recorded on the minutes of the Committee and be reported to the House. sth October, 1939.
Final Report. The Education Committee, consisting of ten members, has held two meetings during the session, with an average attendance of six members. Two petitions were referred to the Committee ; these were considered and reported on to the House. sth October, 1939. Clyde Caer, Chairman.
