No. 139.—Petition of C. H. Coghlan, of Takahue. Praying that he be granted a miner's pension. I am directed to repent th.it the Committee recommends that the petition be referred to the Government for favourable consideration. Tn view of the occasional conflict of opinion between doctors as to whether a miner is suffering from pneumoconiosis, resulting in numerous petitions to Parliament and much distress and physical agony to petitioners in travelling for purposes of roinspection, this Committee is of opinion that men who, as the result of having been miners, have contracted a disease similar to pneumoconiosis, which incapacitates them from work, should be allowed to qualify for a miner's pension. 28th November, 1'.). , !."..

No. 206.—Petition of A. W. Moore, of Auckland. Prayino that a miners pension bo granted to him. I am directed to report that the Committee recommends that the petition be referred to the Government for favourable consideration. No. 253.—Petition of W. Danby and 230 Others, of Thames. Praying that A. C. Houghton be granted a miner's pension. I have the honour to report that the Committee recommends that the petition be referred to the (Government for favourable consideration. 20th December, 1933. Stewart Reid, for Chairman.

Special Report. I have the honour to report that the members of the Goldfields and Mines Committee desire to place on record their appreciation of the ability, tact, and unfailing courtesy during the session manifested by the Chairman, Mr. Bodkin, in the conduct of the business of the Committee ; and the meml era of the Committee further desire that this resolution be recorded in the minutes of the Committee, and also that it lie reported to the House. 20th December, 1933. Final Report. I have the honour to report thai the Goldfields and Mines Committee, consisting of ton monibers, has during the session held five meetings, with an average attendance of five.
