No. 236. —Petition of Florence E. Ford, of Invercargill. Praying for a compassionate allowance in respect of her late husband's services in the Post and Telegraph Department. I am directed to report that, in the opinion of the Committee, this petition should be referred to the Government for favourable consideration. 18th December, 1933.

No. 166.—Petition of R. H. Burrell, of Auckland. Praying that he be granted a compassionate allowance in consideration of his services with the Police Force. I am directed to report that, in the opinion of the Committee, this petition should be referred to the Government for consideration. 18th December, 1933.

No. 127. —Petition of G. W. Drew, of Auckland. Praying for additional compensation for death of son while employed by the Public Works Department. I am directed to report that, in view of the financial position of the parents, who are receiving charitable aid, and the fact that a lump sum of £572 was offered by the Department and subsequently reduced by the Arbitration Court to £100, the petition should be referred to the Government for most favourable consideration. 18th December, 1933.

No. 283/1932-33. —Petition of J. Kennedy, of Wellington. Praying for an inquiry regarding his detention in a mental hospital. I am directed to report that, as the prayer of the petition has been granted, the Committee has no recommendation to make. 18th December, 1933.
