No. 223. —Petition of C. R. Willcocks, of Little Akaloa. Praying for investigation into his dismissal as Harbourmaster at Apia, and for compensation, or a permanent position in the Government Service. I am directed to report that the Committee recommends that the petition be referred to the Government for consideration. 28th February, 1933.
No. 228.—Petition of Mary Moncrieff, of Wellington. Praying for inquiry into alleged non-delivery of money forwarded through the Post Office. I am directed to report that the Committee has no recommendation to make. 6th March, 1933. «
No. 140. —Petition of W. J. Tinsley, of Masterton. Praying for compensation for loss arising out of alleged false imprisonment. I am directed to report that the Committee has carefully considered this petition, and has no recommendation to make in respect of the petition's prayer, but the Committee is of the opinion that certain money, being the value of articles of clothing retained by the Crown and also the expenses he was put to in stopping witnesses appearing at the New Plymouth Supreme Court sittings, should be paid to the petitioner. 6th March, 1933.
Special Report. I have the honour to report that the Committee desires to record its hearty appreciation of the ability, care, and attention devoted by the Chairman, Mr. F. Lye, to the business of the Committee, and the courteous and tactful manner in which his duties have been carried out during the session ; and further desires that this resolution shall be recorded in the minutes of the Committee, and be reported to the House.
