No. 76. —Petition of A. B. Targuse, of Auckland. Praying for the reopening of the case of alleged wrongful imprisonment of her son, P. E. P. Shortland, and for a compassionate allowance to be paid to him. I am directed to report that the Committee has no recommendation to make. 2nd October, 1930.

No. 101. —Petition of Harriet E. Vanstone, of Little River. Praying that certain property be vested in her name, and that she be granted the right to a partyline telephone. I am directed to report that the Committee has no recommendation to make. 2nd October, 1930.

No. 32.—Petition of Harriet E. Vanstone, of Little River. Praying for a rehearing of a Court decision regarding a boundary-fence. I am directed to report that the Committee has no recommendation to make. 2nd October, 1930.

No. 126.—Petition of David Stone, of Wellington. Praying for an adjustment of administrative charges in respect of a house purchased under the Housing Act, 1919. I am directed to report that in the opinion of the Committee the petition should be referred to the Government for favourable consideration. 2nd October, 1930.

No. 416/1929, —Petition of Hannah T. Scully, of Wellington. Praying for a compassionate allowance in respect of her late husband's and late daughter's services in the Public Service. I am directed to report that, the member in charge of the petition having expressed a desire to withdraw same, the Committee recommends that he be allowed to do so. 2nd October, 1930.

No. 54. —Petition of J. J. Meikle, of Auckland. Praying that effect be given to the various reports of the Public Petitions M to Z Committee. I am directed to report that in the opinion of the Committee the petition should be referred to the Government for favourable consideration, with the suggestion that it should consider granting the petitioner a suitable annuity of not less than £4 per week. 2nd October, 1930.

No. 98. —Petition of A. R. Young, of Lower Hutt. Praying that a recommendation of the Public Petitions M to Z Committee be given effect to. I am directed to report that the Committee reaffirms its decision of last year —namely, that the petition should be referred to the Government for favourable consideration. 2nd October, 1930.

No. 424/1929. —Petitioii of F. E. Wright, of Lower Hutt. Praying for compensation for loss sustained through the erection of the Government railway ramp in front of his property at Lower Hutt. I am directed to report that in the opinion of the Committee. the petition should be referred to the Government for favourable consideration. 2nd October, 1930.
