As in the case, of other great earthquakes, hundreds of after-shocks occurred, some of them severe enough to cause further harm in the damaged areas. Prom June 17th to December 31st, 1929, 632 after-shocks were recorded on the seismographs at the Observatory. Fig. I is a map showing the distribution of seismic intensity of the earthquake of June 17th. The map was prepared from the numerous reports of observers, newspapers, &c.
