With reference to your telegram of the 24th November, intimating that His Majesty's Government in Great Britain has under consideration the question of the prohibition of the broadcasting of political or controversial matters, and inquiring of the restrictions, if any, which have been placed by the New Zealand Government on the broadcasting of such matters, I have the honour to transmit to you, at the instance of my Ministers, the accompanying Order in Council,* dated the 9th March, 1925, making regulations in connection with the establishing and operating of broadcasting stations. Your attention is invited to paragraph 29 of the regulations, which deals with the dissemination of propaganda of a controversial nature. 2. Ministers add that broadcasting in this Dominion is carried out by the Radio Broadcasting Company of New Zealand, Ltd., under license from the New Zealand Government; and that any infringement by the company of the regulations can be dealt with as a breach of contract, and, if necessary, the license revoked. With reference to your despatch, Dominions No. 469, of the 13th October, on the subject of the grant of postal' concessions to members of His Majesty's Forces on active service, I have the honour to inform you, in reply to your inquiry, that my Ministers concur in the amendment of the section of Field Service Regulations referred to, in the manner described in the despatch.
