PUBLIC HEALTH COMMITTEE (REPORTS OF THE). (Mr. GIRLING, Chairman.)

ORDERS OF REFERENCE. Extracts from the Journals of the House of Representatives. Wednesday, the 30th Day of June, 1926. Ordered, " That all petitions not finally dealt with during the session of 1925 be again referred to the same Committees as they were referred to during the said session." —(Right Hon. Mr. Coates.) Thursday, the Ist Day of July, 1926. Ordered, " That a Select Committee be appointed, consisting of ten members, to consider all matters relating to public health, infectious diseases, contagious diseases, hospitals, and to local authorities having charge of these matters, and to such other matters affecting public health as may be referred to it; to have power to call for persons and papers ; three to be a quorum : the Committee to consist of Mr. Armstrong, Mr. Bell, the Hon. Mr. Buddo, Mr. Field, Mr. Girting, Mr. H. Holland, Mr. Horn, Mr. W. Jones, Mr. Parry, and the mover."—(Hon. Mr. Young.) Friday, the 2nd Day of July, 1926. Ordered, " That the Opticians Bill be referred to the Public Health Committee."—(Hon. Mr. Young.) Friday, the 6th Day of August, 1926. Ordered, "That the name of Mr. Field be deleted from the list of members of the Public Health Committee, and the name of Mr. Reid be substituted in lieu thereof."—(Hon. Mr. Young.)

REPORTS. Opticians Bii.l. I am directed to report that this Committee, to which was referred the above-mentioned Bill, has the honour to report that the said Bill has been carefully considered, and that the Committee recommends that it be allowed to proceed, with the amendments shown on the copy of the Bill attached hereto. 28th July, 1926.

No. 272/25. —Petition of W. J. Dawson. Praying for registration as a dentist without examination. I am directed to report that the Committee, having carefully considered the petition,-lias no recommendation to make. 28th July, 1926.
